Dixons recently collaborated with Katoomba North Public School to create and install custom log seats for their new Yarning circle. Using locally sourced timber, our crew crafted each bench, providing a welcoming environment for students, their families and educators to gather for meaningful discussions and cultural exchanges. This is also a reflection of the school’s commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
Yarning circles invite everybody to participate on equal standing, learn as a group by sharing different ideas and experiences, and create respectful relationships. They have been used across indigenous communities for thousands of years and are very important to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s culture.
It was fantastic to have this ready for the students to see, coming into the new school term!
